If I by self observation is just aware of my mental activity and stay with the perspective of the absolute ground of my being, in its calm, deep stillness and sense of emptiness and clarity, I experience my mental activity and the events that originate outside consciousness as a mirror-like atmosphere of an interspace against which the contents of consciousness are constantly weighed in detail, without any bias whatsoever towards the impressions that are the background of the structure we discern in its functional parts and we describe in our illustrations of them as we transform its inherent energy into insight in consciousness. It is experienced as an all-encompassing atmosphere of compassion that encompasses the absolute ground to which we relate within ourselves and in everything around us. If we ignore this or choose to disregard this out of indifference or whatever other reasons we have for not choosing the communication we have between us and ourselves, they will hijack our attention and make their objections in our consciousness anyway. Which will make us both absent-minded and cognitively numb, even demented as these functions atrophy.
