there is not much difference between participating in the undercurrents of consciousness at night and being our descriptions of them during the day

From the absolute root of our being grows a mirror-like knowledge which, if ignored, creates a terrible mental jumble of contradictory impressions and impulses which are constantly trying to find expression through us. That foundation also consists of an incomprehensible mental spatiality whose extent when suppressed is perceived as a vast infinite depth of pure emptiness. Something with which we, through the balance of mind that we develop in the encounter with these, will, through self-observation, come to consider all the impressions of our senses with attentiveness. From this deep absolute foundation within us we perceive the compassion that frees us from the separation and bias that our descriptions provide us with when we use them in a final sense. Instead of through the perspective that follows from the absolute foundation we find in the space that surrounds us everywhere. In which our stream of consciousness is a part, with its bounded spirit of the time, our impressions and reactions to its content, and the conditioning it provides us with. A content whose descriptions and references we live by as if in a dream we go through whether we sleep or are wide awake. With the difference that at night we are just as passive companions to our inner person as our inner person is to us during the day. And the further apart they are, the more tension arises between them in the opposite relationship they generate, and the more biased we become in one direction or the other in order to obtain some kind of temporary relief from it. With the difference that our opponent is always within us. Not in how we transfer it to free ourselves from the meditative confrontation and self-reflection it involves.
