I understand that consciousness is what emerges between the activity that the psyche generates in the mind as a counterpart to the content in the pure unconditioned background of the original nothingness as it tries to realize itself. The insight that arises there uses its inherent energy as consciousness to enlighten each individual about the personal meaning of this content. Which also causes consciousness to develop and expand over time. What makes it so complicated is that we encounter it not only in ourselves. During meditation and self-observation but also in its relationship to this mind in others. If it is unknown to us, our undeveloped relationship to the mental activity of the mind that originally emerges from the psyche all the time between us and ourselves, that we refer to as experience, will create confusion and an inner disorder not only in ourselves, but also in others because we stage it for others in their relationship to this within them. Most of this is the result of what we call our world and what we do with it. But i also see ”the mind” as the independent activity that is constantly going on within us. Which associates our experiences to their origin in the psyche. Which are the ones that give rise to the composite and complex states whose forms arise as we are derived to them through the sum of their individual processes. Which we often without give it much of a thought call concepts. Forms that are not possible without the stillness that arises in a calm mind that has the perspective of nothingness. It is from such a perspective that we can perceive a strictly neurological perspective on the dualistic conflicts that arise between different aspects of our mental life as quite crude, humanly speaking, and even more arranged to fit a description of knowledge that has nothing to do with our direct experiences of our mental content, but rather with it consisting of an unperceived opposition to various mental factors that operate without the mutual contexts on which consciousness depends for our mental equilibrium. To summarize, mind is the activity that associates us with the content of our psyche through our sensations, thoughts and feelings. Consciousness is what illuminates, captures and make us pay attention to the content that relates us to its psychic origin. It is conveyed to us as energy. When that energy is released from it, we experience insight and the energy causes consciousness to grow and expand. It is what make us experience enlightenment. But for this to be possible we need to adopt the perspective that makes us see things as they are. Not through our associations with the incessant mental activity of the mind, and not immediately staged through our impulses. We do this by stilling the mind, and in deep inner attention and silent listening. Often called nothingness or emptiness. That practice has been fundamental and known to man as far back as there have been Aboriginal people in Australia. It is a symptom of us today that it is not generally recognized as the absolute foundation of our mental well-being. I think it’s because so few people have gone through this and know what it is, and can thereby be helpful to those who are seeking it themselves. Furthermore, this is what intuition is all about.
