Any clergyman, minister or priest will one way or the other find themselves in the same situation today as psychotherapists do but with the difference that they do not have the long arduous training and therapeutic experience required for dealing with people seeking conversational support in spiritual distress. A priest of any kind just like a therapist cannot address the material people struggle with within themselves exclusively with neurological or biological arguments and techniques, with political correctness, or a public moral and language that do not describe its influence on them without being totally ignorant or tone deaf to the psychic material that people are confronted with in relation to themselves. In other people, in a culture or in life itself without making it literal, which would really question the credibility of their sacred connection and expose them to what shortcomings they may have in relation to our dominants in the psychic background that we share. Their ability to be there with the conflict in its original inner perceptual context also puts the priest’s or persons relationship to his own version of this psychic content to the test. But if the priest, or psychotherapists lacks a developed relation to it, he or she can never support the relationship other’s have between them and themselves in a personally experienced participatory and empathetic way to someone who needs help navigating through this within themselves. With a traditional psychic background in people, it is easier to obtain although equally laborious since people may already have a developed psychic consciousness and a more direct language that describes what it is that exerts its influence on the one who experience it. Although it is common here too that it has become literalized in a way that only distance us from ourselves. This may also trigger a complete mental exhaustion, and apathy, or obsessions of various kind, where the contact with our inner relation to nature’s own self-organization is completely neglected, or inhibits our psychic reflection with an dysfunctional attitude that also further distorts any communication we must have with our inner coordinating center. Psychic maturity and participatory reflection in this relational sense is a vanishingly small part of public consciousness today.
