Today I heard a wonderful example that within us there is a person whose psychic nature exists there independently of the body.
A nurse who is a friend of my family is caring for a patient who is seriously ill and unconscious. The patient has no way of communicating with the environment. The nurse who takes care of the patient chats with her daily about a little bit of everything, about the weather and what treatment she receives from her when she is there. The patient recovers and on a return visit she overhears the nurse talking to another nurse and walks up to her. She says that she recognizes her voice and the nurse then tells her that she was one of those who took care of her. The patient then gratefully tells her that she has heard and listened to her small talk the whole time and that is why she recognizes her voice.
