If mind is the consciousness of the universal ground, and our external senses, independent of that ground, form all the perceptions that constantly arise and vanish as we experience them in relation to the body. Then space is the awareness of its impermanence, and of the habitual patterns accumulated by the ordinary mind as something that does not exist as mind, and do not emanate from the universal ground. It appears to the mind as a mirage. As a mindless behavior that has also been referred to as a collective consciousness. That creates the different patterns and strategies we use to adapt to it. But that has nothing to do with the universal ground because it is inward turning. The awareness of the content of that space is not attainable by the body as consciousness. It reacts to it as it is confused with it by our ignorence and transferred to it. But it is not the body that becomes mindful of its content. That is what awareness does and that makes all the difference.
